March 28, 1932 to May 3, 2019
After a long and difficult journey with dementia, Don passed away peacefully on May 3, 2019 in London, Ontario. He was a generous and soft-hearted man who would give what he had to anyone who he thought had more need than himself, even when he could least afford it. An immigrant from Scotland in 1963, he worked hard all his life to support his wife Mary and four children. He remained fondly loyal to Scotland and the family and friends he left behind so long ago. He and Mary spent many years living in Cayuga, Ontario where he was a dedicated member of the Kinsmen Club, the local volunteer fire department and the Royal Canadian Legion. Don’s family will miss him dearly but are glad that he is now at ease and at peace. He leaves behind his daughter Irene Birrell (Alan), his daughter Lis Karpinski (Dave), son Donald Macpherson (Susan) and four beloved grandchildren: Alexandra Birrell, Ted and Katie Karpinski, and Claire Macpherson. He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 1997, his son Neil in 1980 and his grandson Michael in 1994. The funeral will be held in the MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, Cayuga, Ontario, on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at 3 p.m. with visitation beginning one hour prior, at 2 p.m. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Cayuga. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society, the Cancer Society or a charity of your choice are very welcomed.
