MOORE, Robert Louis (R.L.)
Peacefully, at 95 years old, R.L. passed away on April 8, 2019 at The Meadows LTC in Ancaster. Born in Haldimand County on the family farm on October 4, 1923, R.L. is predeceased by his beloved wife Marion (nee Teskey). Brother of Carl (Peterborough) and Brother-In-Law of Ethel Moore (Toronto), Audrey Moore (Hamilton) and Ruby Reichheld (Hagersville). Predeceased by parents Louis and Laura Moore, brothers Everett, Lyle and Clair and by sister Gladys Young. R.L. will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. R.L. was a long-time resident of Haldimand County and lived on the family farm for 92 years. He was an avid local historian, Choralair member, artist and wood -carver as well as a lifelong faithful member of Blackheath United Church. Words cannot express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Meadows LTC, Panabaker Neighbourhood in Ancaster who embraced R.L. as part of their family and the outstanding care they gave him while in residence and in Palliative care. Visitation will be held in the MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, Caledonia on Friday April 12, 2019 from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. The funeral service will take place in the Blackheath United Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 13. Interment in Blackheath Cemetery. A reception lunch will follow in the lower level of the church. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Blackheath United Church or Hamilton Health Sciences or the charity of your choice.

I always enjoyed chatting with R,L, whether it be at Choralair events or at Caledonia Fair, He so enjoyed his painting and carving and of course spent so many years in the Choralairs that he became an honourary member even when he no longer sang with the choir.May he rest in peace. Anne McMillan

Oh the visits we had! I’ve chatted with RL since the day he moved into Rvilla. We would spend hours going over the Exhibitor’s list from the Binbrook Fair. He would tell me about the categories he would enter, what was successful, or not. The “Art Gallery” in his room was amazing. I could spend a day looking at all the details in his paintings. His favourite one (it seemed to me) was the one of the farmhouse. He would point out every time the little wooden porch on the left side, with the basket of clothes sitting on it to hang on the line. I regret not taking a photo of it. Oh, and he loved raisin pie. Rest In Peace RL. You were so special. Catherine Edwards and Eliza Doolittle (therapy dog)

For over 15 years I enjoyed frequent chats with R.L. about art and Caledonia's history. Robert was a quit, kind person who will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him...

One of the sweetest, kindest men I’ve ever had the honour of knowing. I was lucky enough to take care of RL when he lived at the Rivieria Retirement Lodge. Whenever it was lunch time he’d say I didn’t clear my plate I don’t think I’ll be allowed any desert I would smile and say I won’t tell if you won’t and he’d smile and say ok good so mother won’t know? I would say not this time no! I will remember him always.
